dreamstime_xxl_31010121What is grief counseling and what can I expect?

Each year The Center of Connected Living works to add therapy and counseling services to address our community’s wants and needs. Incomplete recovery from grief can have a lifelong negative effect on the capacity for happiness. Based on a proven program, The Grief Recovery Handbook offers grievers the specific actions needed to move beyond loss. Read more about how this group differs from other support groups here.

Our next grief group will take place early 2018 at our beautiful and confidential professional offices downtown. The first session is FREE and is the beginning of our 8-week journey. Sessions will be held on weeknights/weekends depending upon the needs of group members. This group is limited to only 8 people because the goal is to provide a safe and intimate experience. You will be given a text called ‘The Grief Recovery Handbook’ for free, and completing homework assignments in-between sessions is required. Refreshments are provided each week.

During group counseling, you will learn specific tools and find the support needed to recover from the grief of loss. This isn’t the same as ‘moving on’ or ‘getting over’ a person or event, but seeks to resolve grief from relationships that are incomplete, which often occurs with death, divorce, break-ups, life transitions, etc. People in our groups have struggled with the loss of a parent, spouse, girlfriend and boyfriend, a job, a past painful childhood experience, health, and more.

“Dr. Scholtz introduced me to the Grief Recovery group and simultaneously helped me turn my life around. The group has helped me to identify not only my own signs, but signs that my family and friends are displaying when dealing with grief. With the tools learned in the grief recovery method, I know now that I will not experience that feeling of lack of purpose or lose my sense of identity that often comes with a symptom of grief. I cannot thank Corinne and the grief recovery method enough. It was simply life changing!”

“I highly recommend Dr. Scholtz for therapeutic services. She is gifted in numerous areas of therapy and has greatly helped individuals refocus and heal. She has been a great help to my family and to many people I know.”
