Personalized ketamine treatment

We are excited to introduce ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, a cutting-edge therapeutic service designed to help individuals overcome mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more. This innovative treatment combines the benefits of ketamine, a well-researched and effective medication, with the supportive environment of psychotherapy to foster profound personal growth and healing.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is classified as a dissociative hallucinogen, known for its ability to distort perceptions of sights, sounds, and emotions, creating a sense of detachment from reality. Users often describe feeling as if they are "outside their body," experiencing a profound shift in their sense of self and surroundings. This unique effect can facilitate deep introspection and emotional exploration, making it a powerful tool in therapeutic settings.

Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD. Ketamine has rapidly acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1-2 hrs. after treatment. Ketamine has also been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity for lasting symptom improvement.

Ketamine can be administered in a variety of ways, including IV infusion, intramuscular injection, via nasal spray and using sublingual lozenges. In my work with Journey Clinical (the medical provider for ketamine) we only use the sublingual lozenge form.

Who Is Ketamine-Assisted Therapy For?

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP) is designed to benefit a wide range of individuals seeking mental health support and personal growth. It is particularly effective for those who:

Suffer from Treatment-Resistant Depression: If traditional antidepressants haven’t provided relief, KAP offers a new and promising option with rapid onset of action

Experience Anxiety Disorders: Including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic disorder. KAP can help alleviate symptoms and provide new coping strategies.

Struggle with PTSD: For those dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, KAP can help process and integrate traumatic experiences in a supportive environment.

Live with Chronic Pain: Especially when conventional pain management strategies have failed. Ketamine’s analgesic properties can reduce pain and improve quality of life.

Face Suicidal Thoughts: KAP can provide immediate relief from severe suicidal ideation, offering a critical intervention in times of acute crisis.

Seek Personal Growth: Beyond clinical applications, KAP is beneficial for individuals looking to explore their inner worlds, resolve deep-seated emotions, and foster personal and spiritual growth.

Each session is conducted in a safe, controlled environment under the supervision of trained professionals, ensuring that the therapy is both effective and supportive. If you're looking for a profound way to address mental health challenges or embark on a journey of self-discovery, KAP might be right for you.

What is it about ketamine that makes it such a promising therapeutic tool?

The effects of ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body, and facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience.

Ketamine-assisted therapy offers a unique and promising approach to mental health treatment for several reasons:

Enhanced Therapeutic Process: Ketamine can help facilitate deeper introspection and emotional processing during therapy sessions. It can lower inhibitions and defenses, allowing clients to explore difficult emotions and experiences more openly.

Neuroplasticity: Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change and adapt by forming new connections between neurons. It's like the brain's way of rewiring itself in response to new experiences, learning, or injuries. Ketamine has been found to promote neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to rewire and adapt. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with mood disorders, PTSD, or chronic pain, as it may help to break negative thought patterns and establish healthier neural pathways.

Ketamine helps the brain reset by boosting neuroplasticity. When ketamine is administered, it blocks certain receptors in the brain, leading to the release of chemicals that promote the growth of new neural connections. This process can help "reboot" the brain, improving mood and mental function, and helping people recover from depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues more quickly than traditional treatments.

Holistic Approach: Ketamine-assisted therapy combines the psychological benefits of therapy with the neurobiological effects of ketamine. This holistic approach addresses both the emotional and physiological aspects of mental health, potentially leading to more comprehensive and lasting improvements.
